MURANO VASE

This project for NEX Project is a creative exploration inspired by the legendary art of Murano hand-blown glass. Originating from the Venetian island of Murano, this craft is celebrated for its ancient techniques where masters transform molten glass into organic, one-of-a-kind art pieces. We were captivated by the fluidity of the glass and the way it captures light, making it the perfect subject to challenge our ability to render complex, transparent materials that possess both weight and elegance.

The technical focus of this study was to master the physics of refraction and caustic light patterns—the dancing reflections created when light passes through curved, hand-blown surfaces. By simulating the subtle imperfections and liquid-like transparency unique to Venetian glass, we have created a visual tribute that bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern digital art. This project stands as a testament to our dedication at NEX Project to pushing the boundaries of material realism and atmospheric storytelling.
