The Gallery House stands as a bold exploration of form and function, where BES Project sought to challenge the traditional boundaries of residential architecture. Our design philosophy for this residence focuses on the striking interplay between rigid linear structures and soft organic apertures, most notably the iconic circular windows that punctuate the facade. This geometric contrast creates a unique visual identity that transforms the house into a living sculpture. By elevating the building on a clean structural base, we allowed the architecture to harmonize with the surrounding landscape while maintaining a commanding presence within its environment.
Inside the residence, the core concept revolves around acting as a gallery, where every room offers a curated visual experience. We designed the transition between spaces to feel like a seamless journey, utilizing large scale windows to invite natural light to act as a primary design element. The public areas are defined by high ceilings and open plan layouts that enhance the sense of airy spaciousness, providing a perfect backdrop for the owner’s personal collection of art and design. This approach ensures that the interior is not merely a place to live, but a sanctuary of constant inspiration and artistic contemplation.
A meticulous selection of materials defines the tactile soul of the Gallery House, emphasizing authenticity and refined luxury. We utilized rich dark timber panels for the cabinetry and wall surfaces to provide a warm, grounded contrast to the smooth, neutral plaster finishes. The kitchen and dining areas feature polished stone and marble textures that interact beautifully with the soft, diffused lighting, creating a rhythmic depth throughout the home. Every surface was rendered with digital precision to ensure that the craftsmanship of the wood, fabric, and stone feels authentic and resonates with the overall design narrative.
Lighting played a crucial role in bringing the textures of this project to life, especially in how it interacts with the intricate patterns of the materials. We focused on how the golden hour sunlight filters through the windows to cast elongated shadows, highlighting the delicate textures of woven rattan and plush upholstery. In the private quarters, such as the bedroom, we introduced a more moody and textured palette to evoke a sense of “Curated Comfort”. This careful calibration of light and atmosphere ensures that the home can transition from a bright, energetic gallery during the day to a serene and intimate retreat at night.
Ultimately, the Gallery House is a synthesis of architectural bravery and functional elegance, representing the pinnacle of BES Project’s design capabilities. We have successfully merged the bold aesthetic of a modern art museum with the warmth and intimacy required for a family home. Every detail, from the metallic sheen of the modular shelving to the strategic placement of indoor greenery, was considered to create a harmonious and balanced environment. Through this blend of visionary shapes, rich materiality, and mastery over atmosphere, we have created a residence that is truly one of a kind; we call this “The Gallery House.”
